Recently, Michelle has taken the role of Store Manager, working alongside the Area Manager Jason Miller. Together, they’re focused on refining the operational and restaurant strategies to enhance customer service, maximize efficiency, and support Wimpy’s growth trajectory. We took some time this month to discuss all the exciting changes happening at Wimpy’s Wodonga and their tips for success!
What have you done to increase sales?
“Minor renovations brought a refreshed look to the restaurant, creating a warmer and more welcoming environment. Wimpy’s Wodonga has focused on providing quality, home-cooked meals at affordable prices, catering to both traveller’s and local patrons.
In partnership with New Sunrise, the store has also expanded its convenience offerings, adding more variety and value to meet the diverse needs of its customer base. These initiatives have positioned Wimpy’s Wodonga as a favoured stop, blending quality food and effective convenience solutions for all its visitors.
Wimpy’s Wodonga’s success and ongoing growth are built on four foundational priorities:
1. Site Cleanliness – Consistently maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for every customer.
2. Quality Food – Serving high-quality, home-cooked meals that appeal to both traveller’s and locals.
3. Customer Satisfaction – Focusing on delivering positive customer experiences to foster loyalty and encourage repeat visits.
4. Executing Promotions – Proactively implementing promotional offers that add value and draw in a wide variety of customers.

What categories have lead increases? Why?
Significant sales growth at Wimpy’s Wodonga from 2020/21 to 2023/24 has been driven by the following categories:
1. Restaurant Sales – Increased by 34.98%, thanks to a focus on quality food, competitive pricing and a welcoming atmosphere.
2. Takeaway Food Sales – Achieved an outstanding 84.79% growth, fuelled by the convenience of home-cooked meal options that meet customer demand.
3. General Merchandise Sales – Grew by 66.27%, benefiting from strategic merchandising and effective promotions that appeal to a wide customer base.
4. Beverage Sales – Rose by 40.19%, supported by attractive pricing, well-organized displays and targeted promotional efforts.
5. Bakery Pies & Rolls – We have recently launched Jill & Jack daily pies and sausage rolls in the store, the response has been overwhelming. Customers have shown great enthusiasm for the quality and variety, contributing positively to our sales and enhancing the overall appeal of our bakery offerings. This launch has not only attracted new customers but has also encouraged repeat visits from locals seeking delicious, fresh options.
These impressive gains highlight a commitment to quality products, well-considered pricing, effective merchandising, and exceptional customer service across all categories.
What are your plans for the next 12 months for
your store?
Over the next 12 months, Wimpy’s Wodonga has set forth several strategic initiatives to enhance operations and
customer satisfaction:
1. Upgrading Shower Facilities – Improving amenities to ensure greater comfort and convenience for
customers, particularly traveller’s.
2. Introducing New Products and Menu Items – Regularly updating the menu with fresh options to align with customer preferences and market trends.
3. Site-Specific Promotions – Launching exclusive promotions tailored specifically to Wimpy’s diverse customer base, aimed at increasing engagement and sales.
4. Maintaining High Customer Satisfaction – Focusing on delivering exceptional service to guarantee a positive experience for every visitor.
